Where it came from
Wrath of the Eternal Warrior #3, released in 2016 by Valiant Entertainment, serves as a pivotal installment in the series chronicling the life of Gilad Anni-Padda, the immortal Eternal Warrior. Following the character's resurrection, the narrative focuses on his struggle to navigate his responsibilities after centuries of service, set against the backdrop of an unforgiving and mysterious afterlife environment. This era of Valiant storytelling was characterized by a push for character-driven, grounded superhero narratives that blended ancient history with contemporary themes.
The issue features scripting by Robert Venditti and interior art by Raúl Allén, whose minimalist and structurally innovative approach defines the visual identity of the run. Allén’s work on this series is frequently cited by critics for its unique page layouts and atmospheric use of color, which contrast sharply with traditional cape-and-cowl comic aesthetics. The series was well-received for its artistic ambition, cementing Gilad's place as a central figure in the Valiant Universe's modern continuity.
