X-Men Epic Collection: Mutant Massacre #1

The X-Men Epic Collection: Mutant Massacre volume was released by Marvel Comics as part of their comprehensive initiative to reprint classic X-Men storylines in a large-format, chronological trade paperback style. This specific collection compiles the pivotal 1986 crossover event 'Mutant Massacre,' a narrative arc that fundamentally shifted the tone of the X-Men franchise toward darker, grittier storytelling and had a profound impact on the team's roster and emotional state.

The original source material features the work of legendary creators including Chris Claremont, Louise Simonson, Walt Simonson, and John Romita Jr. This crossover is widely regarded by historians and readers as a watershed moment for the franchise, successfully integrating multiple titles into a cohesive, high-stakes tragedy. The design of the Epic Collection series is intended to be a definitive reference library for long-term fans, prioritizing accessibility and archival quality over the ephemeral nature of the original monthly issues.
