Scar for a Scar

Scar for a Scar was originally released in the Monarch set for Flesh and Blood, a trading card game designed by James White and published by Legend Story Studios in 2019. The card is designed to reflect the aggressive, high-stakes nature of the game’s combat system, where players must strategically trade life points and resources to gain an advantage. Its inclusion in History Pack 1, released in 2022, was part of a curated reprint strategy intended to provide newer players with access to foundational cards from the game's early sets while updating their aesthetic presentation.

The card’s illustration and mechanical design were crafted to emphasize the theme of mutual exchange in battle. As a common-rarity action card, it is balanced for draft environments and constructed play alike, rewarding players for maintaining a proactive offensive strategy. History Pack 1 acted as a comprehensive retrospective for the game's initial era, and the inclusion of Scar for a Scar maintained its status as a staple utility card that exemplifies the core tactical loop of the Monarch-era meta.
