Where it came from
The Alice with Cheshire Cat Pop! Movie Poster, designated as number 11 in the series, was released by Funko to commemorate the iconic aesthetic of the 1951 Disney animated feature film Alice in Wonderland. This series was developed to bridge the gap between traditional vinyl figurines and wall art, featuring a stylized Pop! figure permanently encased in a display box with a backdrop inspired by original promotional movie posters. The design team focused on capturing the whimsical, surreal atmosphere of the film, utilizing vibrant color palettes and the unmistakable character silhouettes that define the franchise's visual legacy.
Upon its release, the Movie Poster line was received by collectors as a premium evolution of the standard Pop! format, emphasizing shelf presence and decorative utility. By pairing the figures with their respective theatrical key art, Funko aimed to appeal to cinema enthusiasts and animation historians alike. The Alice in Wonderland edition specifically highlights the interplay between Alice and the Cheshire Cat, reflecting the studio's mid-century animation techniques and the enduring popularity of Lewis Carroll’s source material within the Disney canon.
