Where it came from
Princess Allura was released as part of the Funko Pop! Animation line, specifically honoring the 2016 reboot series Voltron: Legendary Defender produced by DreamWorks Animation and World Events Productions. As the crown princess of Altea and the pilot of the Blue Lion, Allura serves as a pivotal character in the narrative, and this figure was designed to reflect her iconic armored aesthetic from the show's later seasons.
The figure captures Allura in her paladin battle suit, maintaining Funko's signature stylized vinyl aesthetic with enlarged eyes and a simplified head shape. It was released during the height of the show's popularity to cater to collectors of animation-themed vinyl figures, fitting seamlessly into the broader Voltron Legendary Defender set that included the other paladins and various robotic lions. The design was received as a faithful representation of the character's updated animation model, appealing to fans of the series' modern reimagining.
