Where it came from
Arkie is part of the Pop! Asia line, specifically released under the Scarygirl franchise banner. Scarygirl originated as a graphic novel series and web project created by Australian artist Nathan Jurevicius, known for his unique, whimsical aesthetic that blends surrealism with folk-inspired character design. The character Arkie, a young girl with a distinctive prosthetic arm and a penchant for adventure, serves as the central protagonist of Jurevicius’s storytelling universe.
The Funko interpretation of Arkie captures the characteristic wide-eyed, minimalist style inherent to Jurevicius’s original illustrations. Released as part of the Asia-exclusive distribution strategy, the figure was designed to appeal to international collectors of designer toys and fans of the Scarygirl digital and print media projects. Upon its release, it was well-received by those following the broader transition of indie character art into the mainstream collectible vinyl market.
