Where it came from
The Black Star Funko Pop! figure was released as part of the Pop! Animation line, drawing from the influential manga and anime series Soul Eater created by Atsushi Ohkubo. Produced to celebrate the show's cult status and distinct visual aesthetic, the figure captures the character's signature spiked hair and confident stance, reflecting his role as a self-proclaimed 'assassin' who seeks to transcend the gods.
The design emphasizes the exaggerated, edgy proportions characteristic of both the Funko aesthetic and Ohkubo's original character art. Upon its release, it became a staple for collectors of early 2010s anime-themed merchandise, serving as a physical tribute to the series' unique blend of dark fantasy and high-energy comedy that defined much of the post-2000s shonen landscape.
