Where it came from
The Soul Evans figure, released as part of the Funko Pop! Animation line, draws its inspiration from the popular manga and anime series Soul Eater. Created by Atsushi Ohkubo, the series debuted in 2004 and quickly garnered a dedicated following for its unique gothic aesthetic and character-driven narrative. The Funko figure captures Soul in his human form, a stylistic choice intended to mirror the series' blend of action and supernatural elements.
The design of this piece emphasizes Funko's signature oversized head and simplified proportions, attempting to translate the sharp, edgy character design of the anime into the company's ubiquitous aesthetic. Within the collector community, the figure is recognized as a staple of the early Animation line, representing a period when Funko was expanding its reach into niche anime franchises to cater to a growing demographic of international collectors.
