Where it came from
The British Bulldog Pop! figure, number 126 in the WWE series, was released by Funko to commemorate Davey Boy Smith, one of the most recognizable figures in professional wrestling during the 1990s. The design captures his iconic appearance, typically featuring his long, flowing hair and the Union Jack attire that served as his signature look during his tenure with the World Wrestling Federation. This figure serves as a tribute to his legacy, particularly his historic main event victory at SummerSlam 1992 at Wembley Stadium, which remains a seminal moment in international wrestling history.
Funko’s WWE line is characterized by its distinct aesthetic, which balances the larger-than-life personas of wrestling superstars with the brand's simplified, stylized vinyl proportions. This specific figure was designed to appeal to both long-time fans of the 'Golden Era' of wrestling and modern collectors of the Pop! vinyl series. Upon release, it was well-received by the collecting community for its faithful recreation of Smith's ring gear and overall representation of his classic character design.
