Where it came from
The Cheshire Cat Pop! figure, designated number 35 in the Disney series, was released by Funko to celebrate the enduring legacy of the 1951 animated classic Alice in Wonderland. This specific 'Faded' variant was introduced as a specialty retailer exclusive, designed to capture the character's signature ability to vanish, leaving behind only his enigmatic grin. The design team utilized a translucent or muted color palette to evoke the surreal, dreamlike atmosphere of Lewis Carroll's Wonderland while adhering to the stylized, large-headed aesthetic that defines the Funko Pop! line.
Upon its release, the figure became a sought-after piece for collectors of both Disney memorabilia and early-era Funko figures. The line itself reflects Funko's strategy of revisiting iconic animation cells through a modern, collectible lens, with the Cheshire Cat serving as a standout for its distinct personality and visual charm. The piece was well-received by fans of the franchise for its faithful representation of the cat's mischievous nature, solidifying its place as a cornerstone item for those curating a comprehensive Disney-themed collection.
