Where it came from
The Commando Claptrap figure was released as part of the Pop! Games series, representing the iconic CL4P-TP general purpose robot from the Borderlands franchise. Developed by Gearbox Software and published by 2K Games, the character serves as the mascot of the series, known for its mix of persistent optimism and comedic ineptitude. This specific iteration depicts the robot equipped with military-style accessories, reflecting the diverse combat skins available to players within the game.
Funko designed this piece to capture the robot's distinct cyclopean eye and weathered, industrial aesthetic, translating the cel-shaded visual style of the Borderlands games into the standard vinyl format. Upon its release, it became a popular entry for fans of the loot-shooter genre, intended to complement the broader collection of vault hunters and creatures produced by Funko for the franchise.
