Where it came from
Handsome Jack was released as part of the initial wave of Pop! Games figures dedicated to the Borderlands franchise. Designed to capture the aesthetic of the iconic antagonist, the figure features his signature hyper-stylized mask, suit, and the distinctive art style synonymous with the Gearbox Software series. It was created to appeal to fans of the looter-shooter genre, reflecting the chaotic and colorful visual language of Pandora.
The design process for these early gaming Pops focused on translating complex character models into the simplified, oversized-head silhouette that defines the Funko brand. Handsome Jack, being one of the most recognizable villains in gaming history, was a natural inclusion for the lineup. Upon release, the figure was well-received by collectors for its attention to detail, specifically the paint application that mimics the cel-shaded look of the Borderlands games.
