Where it came from
Conductor Mickey, numbered 428 in the Pop! Disney series, was released as part of a commemorative collection celebrating the 90th anniversary of Mickey Mouse's debut in Steamboat Willie. This series sought to honor the character's rich cinematic history by depicting Mickey in various iconic roles he has occupied throughout his nine decades of evolution in film and animation.
The design of this figure draws directly from the 1935 animated short The Band Concert, which marked Mickey's first appearance in color. Funko designers aimed to capture the specific energy of his performance as a bandleader, opting for his classic red coat and white gloves. The figure was well-received by Disney enthusiasts and collectors as a thoughtful tribute to one of the most recognizable musical sequences in early animation.
