Where it came from
The Coraline in Raincoat Funko Pop, numbered 423 within the Animation line, was released to celebrate the enduring legacy of Henry Selick’s 2009 stop-motion masterpiece. The figure captures the titular character in her iconic yellow raincoat and boots, a visual shorthand for the eerie adventure she undertakes after discovering a hidden door in her new home. This design reflects the meticulous aesthetic of the Laika film, prioritizing the character's distinct silhouette and her determined expression.
Funko’s design team leaned into the gothic, whimsical charm of the source material when crafting this figure. By focusing on the raincoat—a central element of the film's promotional imagery and Coraline's primary attire—the designers aimed to evoke the tactile, artisanal quality of the original puppet work. Upon its release, the figure was well-received by fans of the studio’s work, quickly becoming a staple for those curating collections dedicated to modern animation and dark fantasy.
