Where it came from
Cruella De Vil, identified as number 11 in the original Disney Pop! series by Funko, was released as part of the initial wave of Disney character figures. These figures were designed to capture the essence of classic animation through the company's signature stylized aesthetic, which emphasizes oversized heads, large black eyes, and simplified, compact bodies. Cruella was selected to represent the iconic villainy of the 1961 film 'One Hundred and One Dalmatians', translating her distinctive high-fashion silhouette, signature two-toned hair, and flamboyant coat into the company's recognizable three-inch vinyl format.
The design of this figure leans into the exaggerated visual language synonymous with the Funko brand, focusing on the character's sharp facial features and dramatic color palette. When released, the figure was well-received by collectors who sought to round out their shelves with classic Disney antagonists. As part of the early Disney series, this piece is now considered a foundational item for long-term collectors, reflecting the period when Funko began firmly establishing its presence within the mainstream pop culture merchandise market.
