Where it came from
The Dapper Jack Skellington figure was released as part of the Funko Pop! Disney series, specifically tied to the iconic 1993 stop-motion film The Nightmare Before Christmas. As a prototype, this item represents an early stage in the manufacturing process, intended for internal quality control and design refinement before the standard mass-market version of Pop number 226 was cleared for production.
The design of this piece emphasizes Jack Skellington’s refined, formal attire, reflecting the character's sophisticated yet macabre aesthetic. Funko’s design team leaned into the character's distinct silhouette, focusing on his signature pinstriped suit and bat-tie. While the final retail version is a staple for fans of the franchise, prototypes like this are prized by collectors for their historical role in the iterative design cycle of early Funko collectibles.
