Where it came from
The Ed Pop! figure, numbered 1897 in the Animation series, is based on the titular character from the cult classic Cartoon Network series Ed, Edd n Eddy. Created by Danny Antonucci and premiering in 1999, the show became the network's longest-running original series, celebrated for its unique hand-drawn aesthetic, surreal humor, and distinct personality dynamics among the three protagonists. Ed represents the quintessential 'gentle giant' archetype, often characterized by his obsession with horror films, comic books, and his unwavering loyalty to his friends despite his lack of intellectual depth.
This Funko figure was produced as part of a wider expansion of the Pop! Animation line to include long-requested characters from iconic late 90s and early 2000s television animation. The design team aimed to translate Ed’s simplified, lanky proportions and iconic striped shirt into the standard Pop! vinyl aesthetic while retaining his signature wide-eyed, mischievous expression. As part of a series focusing on nostalgia, the figure has been received by collectors as a faithful representation of the character's legacy in animation history.
