Where it came from
Edgar, released as number 717 in the Pop! Movies line, is based on the primary antagonist from the 1997 science fiction film Men in Black. The figure depicts the character in his human disguise, featuring the signature ill-fitting suit and iconic facial scarring. Funko developed this piece to capture the film's distinct aesthetic, specifically focusing on the unsettling, bug-like mannerisms Edgar displays while inhabiting a human host.
The design draws heavily from the visual effects work of Rick Baker, who created the practical makeup for the original film. Funko’s team aimed to balance the character's menacing nature with the stylized, oversized-head aesthetic of the Pop! brand. Upon its release, the figure was well-received by fans of the franchise who appreciated the detailed nod to a classic villain, particularly the inclusion of the sugar-water bottle accessory.
