Where it came from
The El Diablo Pop! figure, identified as number 3 in the initial DC Universe line, was released by Funko during the early stages of their expansion into licensed vinyl collectibles. Designed to capture characters from the 2016 film 'Suicide Squad,' this specific iteration depicts the character wearing his signature green suit. The figure reflects the distinct Funko aesthetic, featuring the brand's trademark oversized head and simplified geometric features that emphasize a stylized, approachable look.
The design process for early DC Pop! figures was centered on balancing recognizable comic book or cinematic features with the company's established 'chibi' silhouette. By focusing on the character's unique facial tattoos and specific color palette, the designers aimed to make the figure stand out as a recognizable representation of the character's cinematic appearance. Upon its release, the figure was met with steady interest from collectors of the burgeoning Suicide Squad merchandise line and remains a noted entry for those focused on the earlier, lower-numbered figures in the DC series.
