Where it came from
Released as part of the Funko Pop! Movies line to coincide with the popularity of the Despicable Me franchise, this specific set features the characters Carl and Dave in their transformed 'Evil Minion' state. These figures were produced to capture the humorous, chaotic aesthetic of the animated films, specifically referencing the purple-furred, wild-haired versions of the minions from Despicable Me 2.
The design follows the signature stylized proportions of the Funko Pop! aesthetic, characterized by large, square heads and minimalist features. This particular iteration includes a glow-in-the-dark finish, a common variant practice by Funko to increase collectibility. Upon its release, it was well-received by fans of the franchise and collectors of vinyl figures alike, serving as a distinct piece within the broader series of animated character memorabilia.
