Where it came from
Eye Matie was released by Funko as part of their Pop! Movies line, specifically themed around the 1985 cult classic film The Goonies. The figure captures the iconic 'Eye' patch-wearing appearance of the character One-Eyed Willy, the legendary pirate whose hidden treasure drives the plot of the film. It serves as a stylized, vinyl interpretation of the skeletal pirate figure encountered by the protagonists in their quest.
The design follows the signature Funko aesthetic, featuring the oversized head and minimalist facial features characteristic of the Pop! series. While Funko frequently releases figures based on eighties cinema staples to cater to nostalgia-driven collectors, this particular release was intended to provide fans with a representation of the film's central antagonist figure. Upon its release, it became a standard entry in the extensive Movies category, noted by enthusiasts for its niche subject matter relative to more mainstream pop culture icons.
