Where it came from
Released as part of the Funko Pop! Rocks series in 2016, this figure commemorates the 1968 animated musical film Yellow Submarine. Produced to celebrate the iconic visual aesthetic of the Beatles, the figure captures George Harrison in his signature colorful attire from the movie, aligning with the psychedelic art style pioneered by Heinz Edelmann, the film’s art director.
The figure features the distinct, stylized oversized head and minimalist aesthetic characteristic of the Funko brand. It was released alongside the other band members to appeal to both fans of the Beatles' legacy and collectors of mid-century pop culture artifacts, receiving a generally positive reception for its faithful translation of the film's unique character designs into the modern vinyl toy format.
