Where it came from
Released as an exclusive for New York Comic Con, the Hello Kitty Lady Liberty Pop! figure was designed to celebrate the intersection of Sanrio’s iconic mascot and the cultural identity of New York City. By reimagining Hello Kitty as the Statue of Liberty, the designers leaned into a long tradition of cross-branding that emphasizes Hello Kitty's universal appeal and her ability to adopt diverse roles within global pop culture.
The figure features Hello Kitty wearing the signature crown and robes of the statue, rendered in the familiar aesthetic of Funko's Pop! line. As part of the broader Sanrio collection, the item was met with enthusiasm by collectors who prioritize event-exclusive variants. Its reception reflects the broader collector market's interest in mascot-themed crossovers that commemorate specific locations or cultural milestones.
