Where it came from
The Funko Pop! 8-Bit Jason Voorhees, numbered 26 within the 8-Bit line, was released to evoke the aesthetic of the 1989 Friday the 13th video game developed by LJN for the Nintendo Entertainment System. This particular iteration of the character is notable for its distinct color palette, featuring the iconic turquoise and purple hues that were a byproduct of the limited color limitations of the NES hardware, rather than the traditional film color scheme.
The figure was created as part of Funko's effort to blend modern vinyl collectible trends with nostalgia for 8-bit gaming culture. Designed with a blocky, pixelated structure to mimic sprite art, the figure was met with enthusiasm by both horror film aficionados and retro gaming enthusiasts. It serves as a stylized bridge between two distinct eras of slasher cinema and interactive media history.
