Where it came from
Kimber Benton was released as part of the Pop! Animation line, capturing the essence of the keyboardist and songwriter from the 1980s animated series Jem and the Holograms. The figure celebrates the aesthetic of the original cartoon, which was produced by Hasbro, Marvel Productions, and Sunbow Productions. The design leans into the show’s distinct 1980s glam rock style, prioritizing the bold fashion and recognizable character traits that defined the series during its influential, albeit short-lived, original run.
Funko’s design approach for this release focuses on the character's signature look, including her vibrant hair and performance-ready attire. By translating these 2D animated features into the stylized, large-headed vinyl format, the company aims to appeal to both nostalgia-driven collectors and newer fans of the franchise's music-focused narrative. The figure serves as a tribute to the lasting cultural impact of the series, which remains a touchstone for 1980s pop culture enthusiasts.
