Where it came from
Kurama, the Nine-Tailed Fox, is a central character in the Naruto Shippuden anime and manga franchise created by Masashi Kishimoto. First appearing in the series' inception, the character represents one of the nine Tailed Beasts, originally sealed within the protagonist Naruto Uzumaki. Funko introduced this specific Pop! Animation figure as part of their long-running Naruto Shippuden line, which focuses on capturing the distinct aesthetics of the show's ninjas and mythical creatures in the signature oversized-head stylized form.
This particular figure, numbered 2118, was designed to reflect Kurama's iconic appearance, emphasizing the character's fierce expression and multiple tails. As part of the broader Pop! Animation series, the design follows the established conventions of the line, which aims to provide collectors with accessible, stylized representations of major anime icons. It was released to appeal to fans of the Naruto franchise, maintaining the character's recognizable silhouette while adhering to the standard material and manufacturing processes used for Funko's mass-market vinyl collectibles.
