Where it came from
The Kurama Pop! vinyl figure, numbered 73 in the Animation line, was released to celebrate the character's significance in the Naruto: Shippuden series. As the Nine-Tailed Fox sealed within the protagonist, Kurama is a foundational element of the franchise's mythology. This specific flocked variant was created to add a textural element to the standard vinyl release, mimicking the character's fur through a specialized fuzzy coating process common in limited-edition collectibles.
The design draws directly from Masashi Kishimoto's original illustration style for the character, emphasizing the signature flared tails and intense, sharp features of the Tailed Beast. Funko’s design team sought to balance the inherent ferocity of the character with the stylized, oversized aesthetic that defines the Pop! line. Upon its release, it became a sought-after piece for fans of the series due to the tactile appeal of the flocking and the character's central role in the anime's narrative.
