Where it came from
The Leatherface (Bloody) Freddy Funko Pop! figure was released as a highly exclusive variant, reimagining the iconic horror antagonist from The Texas Chain Saw Massacre as the Funko mascot, Freddy Funko. This piece was produced to celebrate the intersection of classic slasher cinema and the burgeoning collectible culture of the early 2010s, tapping into the intense demand for 'bloody' or 'chase' variants that defined the era's hobbyist market.
The design draws directly from the classic Pop! silhouette, modified to feature Freddy Funko wearing the infamous skin mask and holding a miniature chainsaw. It was created as a limited production run for a specific event, reflecting Funko's strategy of utilizing its own mascot to honor foundational horror franchises. Upon its release, it was met with significant enthusiasm from horror enthusiasts and completist collectors who prized its rarity and its status as an early, specialized entry in the Funko lineage.
