Where it came from
The Little Prince figure, released as number 8 in the Pop! Asia series, draws inspiration from the Jiang Shi—the hopping vampire figures of Chinese folklore. This specific line was developed by Funko to broaden its reach into Asian markets by incorporating regional cultural motifs and traditional supernatural entities into the established vinyl figure aesthetic.
The design emphasizes the iconic silhouette of the Jiang Shi, characterized by the Qing Dynasty official's robes and the talisman attached to the forehead. While the broader Pop! Asia line sought to blend Eastern character archetypes with Western toy design conventions, this particular release is noted among collectors for its specific stylistic departure from the standard Western media-licensed figures typically produced by the company.
