Lu Zhishen

Lu Zhishen is a central character from the classic Chinese literary masterpiece Water Margin, one of the Four Great Classical Novels of Chinese literature. This Funko Pop! figure, released as part of the Pop! Asia series, represents a modern interpretation of the legendary Buddhist monk known for his immense strength and fiery temperament. The figure captures his iconic aesthetic, often characterized by his monk’s robe, prayer beads, and his signature weapon, a heavy monk's spade.

Funko introduced this line to bridge Western collectible aesthetics with Eastern literary icons, aiming to make traditional folklore figures more accessible to global pop culture enthusiasts. The design team focused on balancing the stylized, oversized-head caricature typical of the Pop! brand with the traditional iconography associated with the character's storied history in Chinese folk culture. Upon release, the figure was well-received by collectors who specialize in international folklore and regional Pop! exclusives.
