Song Jiang

Song Jiang was released as part of the Pop! Asia series, a branch of the Funko line dedicated to celebrating cultural icons and figures from across the Asian continent. The character originates from the classic Chinese literary masterpiece Water Margin, one of the Four Great Classical Novels of Chinese literature, which depicts the adventures of 108 outlaws who gather at Mount Liang to form an insurgent army. Funko produced this figure to introduce classic mythological and historical literary figures to a modern demographic of collectors interested in international folklore.

The design of the figure draws inspiration from traditional portrayals of Song Jiang, the leader of the outlaw band, who is often depicted in period armor reflecting his status as a heroic but complex commander. The aesthetic follows the standard Pop! vinyl conventions, utilizing a stylized, oversized head and simplified features to harmonize with the broader product line. As part of the Asia series, the figure was intended to bridge the gap between contemporary vinyl art and classical storytelling, finding a receptive audience among collectors of regional pop culture memorabilia.
