Where it came from
Merida, numbered 1245 in the Pop! Disney series, was released to celebrate the tenth anniversary of the 2012 Pixar film Brave. The figure depicts the protagonist in her iconic Highland dress, capturing the adventurous spirit of the character who challenged traditional gender roles and expectations within her kingdom. As part of the Funko Pop! aesthetic, the design simplifies Merida’s complex, voluminous red curls and intricate costume into the brand's signature stylized form, prioritizing clear, recognizable features for collectors.
The figure emerged during a period of sustained interest in classic Pixar properties, with Funko revisiting earlier films to commemorate milestone anniversaries. Designed by the internal Funko creative team, the piece focuses on the character's signature bow and determined expression. Upon release, it was well-received by fans of the Brave franchise who appreciated the updated mold compared to earlier iterations of the character, noting the increased detail in the sculpting of the hair and clothing textures.
