Where it came from
Moss Man was released as part of the Funko Pop! Pez line, a crossover series that combines the aesthetic of Funko’s stylized vinyl figures with the nostalgic mechanics of the classic Pez candy dispensers. This specific figure draws its design directly from the character's appearance in the Masters of the Universe franchise, reimagined through Funko’s signature oversized-head, minimalist design language. The inclusion of Moss Man in this set reflects the mid-2010s trend of revitalizing 1980s pop culture icons through collectibles that bridge the gap between retro toys and modern pop culture display pieces.
The figure retains the hallmark green, flocked-style aesthetic that defined the original 1982 Mattel action figure, intended to evoke the character's status as a plant-based protector of the forests in the Eternia universe. By stripping back the complex articulation of the vintage toy, the Pop! Pez design emphasizes the character's iconic color palette and familiar expression. It was received by the collecting community as a niche homage to He-Man enthusiasts, serving as both a functional, albeit decorative, candy dispenser and a display-focused collectible for fans of the Masters of the Universe brand.
