Where it came from
The Orange Sour Patch Kid figure was released as part of the Funko Pop! Candy series, a collection designed to bridge the gap between pop culture iconography and classic confectionery branding. Created under license from Mondelēz International, this line aimed to capture the playful, mischievous personality of the Sour Patch Kids mascot, which has been a staple of American snack culture since its rebranding from the original Mars Men in the 1980s.
The design of the figure adheres to the signature Funko aesthetic, featuring the oversized head and simplified, stylized features synonymous with the brand. It was developed to appeal to both nostalgia-driven collectors and fans of novelty advertising mascots. Upon its release, the figure was generally well-received as a vibrant, recognizable addition to the broader Pop! Candy lineup, which focused on translating various globally iconic food brands into the collectible vinyl medium.
