Where it came from
The Orange Troll Pop! figure, numbered 4 in the Trolls series, was released by Funko to celebrate the enduring legacy of the Good Luck Trolls. Originally created by Danish woodcutter Thomas Dam in 1959, these dolls became a global phenomenon throughout the 1960s and 1990s. Funko’s iteration captures the iconic aesthetic of the original figurines, featuring the signature oversized, colorful synthetic hair and the wide-eyed, whimsical expression that defined the brand for decades.
The design follows Funko’s standardized Pop! aesthetic, translating the Trolls' quirky proportions into the company's trademark large-headed, vinyl form factor. By distilling the essence of the franchise into a collectible figure, the design team aimed to evoke nostalgia for the mid-century original while fitting seamlessly into the broader Pop! cultural landscape. Upon release, the figure was well-received by collectors who favored the marriage of modern vinyl manufacturing with the distinct, retro visual identity of the 1960s toy line.
