Where it came from
Papa Emeritus IV is the fourth iteration of the frontman persona for the Swedish theatrical rock band Ghost, introduced to fans in 2020 as the successor to Cardinal Copia. This Funko Pop! figure, numbered 189 in the Pop! Rocks series, captures the character's elaborate ecclesiastical regalia and signature skeletal face paint. It was released to capitalize on the band's growing mainstream appeal and their penchant for intricate, lore-driven visual storytelling.
The figure was designed to translate the complex stage presence of Tobias Forge’s alter ego into the iconic Funko aesthetic, characterized by a large head and simplified, stylized features. As part of the broader Rocks collection, which honors influential musical acts, the Papa Emeritus IV figure was received positively by the band's dedicated fanbase for its attention to detail, such as the character's distinctive ornate vestments and papal headwear, effectively serving as a miniature collectible celebration of the band's evolving theatrical identity.
