Where it came from
The Polka-Dot Man Pop! figure, numbered 1112 in the Pop! Movies line, was released to coincide with the 2021 film The Suicide Squad. Directed by James Gunn, the film revitalized the character Abner Krill, a deep-cut villain from DC Comics history. Funko designed the figure to capture the character's distinct aesthetic from the film, featuring his colorful, glowing-dot costume and the melancholic expression worn by actor David Dastmalchian during his performance.
The design emphasizes the tragic nature of the character, whose polka-dot-themed powers are portrayed in the film as a manifestation of psychological trauma. Collectors responded to the figure as part of a broader set of figures representing the Task Force X lineup, marking a significant entry for a character who had previously lacked mainstream merchandise exposure. Its release solidified the character's newfound pop-culture relevance following his cinematic debut.
