Where it came from
The President Barbie Pop figure was released by Funko in 2023 as part of the promotional lead-up to the live-action Barbie film directed by Greta Gerwig. The figure captures the character's cinematic appearance, specifically referencing the pink and white gingham presidential sash outfit worn by Issa Rae’s character during her tenure in the film’s version of Barbie Land.
The design prioritizes the recognizable aesthetic of the movie’s costume department, translating the character’s screen-accurate gown and sash into Funko’s signature stylized vinyl form. Upon its release, the figure became a popular item for collectors of movie-themed memorabilia, reflecting the broader cultural impact and widespread commercial success of the film’s marketing campaign.
