Where it came from
The Cocaine Bear Pop! vinyl figure, numbered 1452 in the Pop! Movies series, was produced by Funko to commemorate the 2023 dark comedy thriller directed by Elizabeth Banks. The film was inspired by the true story of a 1985 incident involving a black bear that consumed a duffel bag of abandoned narcotics in Georgia, though the film took significant creative liberties to lean into horror-comedy tropes.
The design of the figure captures the bear mid-stride, characteristically clutching a severed human leg in its jaws to reflect the film's macabre tone. Funko's design team focused on translating the cinematic creature’s aggressive yet stylized appearance into their signature aesthetic, emphasizing the figure's gruesome accessory to appeal to fans of the film's campy, visceral appeal and the broader cult following surrounding the movie's marketing campaign.
