Where it came from
Rameses is the official mascot of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, represented here as part of the Funko Pop! College series. The figure depicts the iconic anthropomorphic ram, a tradition rooted in the university's athletic history since the 1920s when cheerleader Vic Huggins introduced a live ram to represent the team. This collectible iteration was released to celebrate the school's sports heritage and appeal to the university's expansive alumni and student base.
The design follows the signature Funko aesthetic, featuring the oversized head and stylized features that define the Pop! line. Funko’s approach to the College series focuses on translating well-known collegiate mascots into their vinyl medium, emphasizing recognizable team colors and school-specific details. Upon release, these figures were primarily marketed as memorabilia for sports fans and collectors of institutional branding, serving as a staple item for university bookstores and collegiate gift shops.
