Where it came from
Rat Fink was originally conceived in the early 1960s by artist Ed 'Big Daddy' Roth as an anti-Mickey Mouse figure, representing a counter-cultural rebellion against the clean-cut aesthetics of the era. The character became a staple of hot rod culture and custom car subcultures, evolving from simple illustrations into a widely recognized mascot for lowbrow art and automotive enthusiasts.
The Funko Pop version of the character, released as a San Diego Comic-Con exclusive, honors Roth’s legacy by translating the iconic rodent into the signature vinyl aesthetic. This specific green chrome variant leans into the vibrant, garish color palettes common in vintage model kits and car paint jobs associated with the Kustom Kulture movement, catering to long-term fans of the artist's underground influence.
