Where it came from
The Ravager Thanos figure, numbered 974 in the Pop! Marvel series, was released as part of the merchandise line supporting the 2021 Disney+ animated series What If...?. The design draws directly from the show's second episode, which reimagined T'Challa as Star-Lord rather than Black Panther, depicting the Mad Titan in the aesthetic style of the Ravager faction rather than his traditional armored warlord appearance.
Funko’s design team adapted the character's signature features—his purple hue and chin ridges—to incorporate the leather-clad, space-faring look of Yondu’s crew. Like other figures in the What If...? line, it sought to capture the show's unique animated style, which blended traditional comic book aesthetics with a high-contrast, cel-shaded look. It was received as a niche addition to the Marvel collection, primarily appealing to viewers interested in the series' exploration of alternate branching timelines.
