Where it came from
The Red Saber Series was launched by Funko as a specialty line within the broader Star Wars Pop! collection, designed to celebrate the iconic Sith Lords and dark side force users of the franchise. This volume, featuring Darth Vader, was created to provide a unified aesthetic for villains, characterized by a distinct monochromatic red color palette and transparent red lightsabers that distinguish them from standard character releases.
The design of the figure leans into the minimalist color scheme to evoke the menacing atmosphere of the Galactic Empire. Funko’s design team opted for this stylistic departure to cater to collectors seeking variant series that offer a cohesive visual theme rather than purely screen-accurate color representation. Upon its release, it was met with interest from franchise completionists and those who appreciate stylized artistic interpretations of classic Star Wars iconography.
