Ringo Starr (Yellow Submarine)

Released as part of the Funko Pop! Rocks series in 2012, this figure commemorates Ringo Starr's appearance in the 1968 animated musical fantasy film Yellow Submarine. The design mirrors the character's stylized, psychedelic aesthetic from the film, which was heavily influenced by the vibrant, surrealist pop art movement of the late 1960s. By translating the film's distinct character animation into a compact vinyl form, Funko sought to capture the enduring cultural legacy of The Beatles' foray into animation.

The figure represents a significant collaboration between Funko and the band's intellectual property management to create collectibles for multi-generational fans. Upon release, these figures were aimed at both casual collectors and devoted followers of the band, serving as a nostalgic tribute to the iconic film. The design process focused on translating Heinz Edelmann’s legendary visual direction into the recognizable, oversized-head silhouette that defines the Pop! brand, solidifying its place in the broader catalog of music-themed collectibles.
