Where it came from
Ripster was released as part of the Funko Pop! Television line in 2024 to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the Street Sharks franchise. The original Street Sharks property debuted in 1994 as an animated series produced by DIC Entertainment, designed primarily to capitalize on the success of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles by featuring anthropomorphic, crime-fighting sharks. This figure captures the character's signature look from the original show, emphasizing his role as the leader of the Bolton brothers.
The design of this Pop! figure adheres to Funko's standard aesthetic while translating the 1990s character's muscular, aggressive physique and shark-like features into the company's trademark large-headed silhouette. By reviving interest in this cult-classic 90s property, the figure appeals to collectors who grew up with the Saturday morning cartoon and original Mattel toy line, positioning it as a nostalgic piece of mid-90s pop culture memorabilia.
