Rita Repulsa & Zordon (2-Pack)

Released as part of the Funko Pop! Movies line, this two-pack commemorates the 2017 feature film adaptation of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. The set features the iconic villain Rita Repulsa, portrayed in the film by Elizabeth Banks, and Zordon, the extraterrestrial mentor played by Bryan Cranston. These figures were produced to capture the modernized, high-tech aesthetic of the characters as they appeared in the cinematic reboot, which reimagined the classic 1990s television archetypes with more elaborate, organic, and crystalline designs.

The character designs for the film were handled by a visual effects team aiming to distance the reboot from the campy aesthetic of the original series while maintaining recognizable color palettes and silhouettes. Funko’s interpretation translates these intricate movie textures into the company’s signature stylized, large-headed vinyl format. The set served as a piece of merchandise for a film that aimed to bridge generational gaps, though critical reception of the movie’s radical design departures was mixed, influencing the secondary market perception of this specific collector set.
