Where it came from
The Sagittarius Gold Saint figure is part of the Funko Pop! Zodiac series, which draws direct inspiration from the legendary armor worn by Aiolos in the anime and manga series Saint Seiya: Knights of the Zodiac. Created by Masami Kurumada, the series centers on young warriors known as Saints who derive their powers from constellations. This specific Pop! figure captures the iconic Gold Cloth of Sagittarius, recognized by its distinct wings and bow, reflecting the central role the Sagittarius armor plays in the franchise's narrative arc.
Designed in the signature Funko aesthetic, the figure translates the complex, ornate details of the Gold Cloth into a simplified, stylized vinyl form. By focusing on the metallic gold finish and the silhouette of the wings, the design aims to evoke the prestige and power associated with the Sagittarius Saint. It was released to appeal to a global fanbase that grew up with the 1980s and 90s anime, serving as both a tribute to the character's legacy and a recognizable piece of merchandise for collectors of the long-running series.
