Where it came from
Released as part of the Funko Pop! Animation line, figure number 811 depicts Sagittarius Seiya, the titular protagonist of the classic manga and anime series Saint Seiya: Knights of the Zodiac. Created by Masami Kurumada, the series follows young warriors known as Saints who derive their power from constellations. This specific design captures Seiya wearing the golden Sagittarius Cloth, an iconic piece of armor that serves as a central plot device throughout the series.
The figure features the distinct, stylized aesthetic common to the Pop! brand, reimagining Seiya's intricate anime armor into the simplified, large-eyed vinyl form favored by collectors. It was produced to commemorate the global legacy of the Saint Seiya franchise, which has maintained a dedicated following since its debut in the mid-1980s. Upon its release, the figure was well-received by long-term fans of the series who appreciated the attention to detail in the metallic paint applications on the figure's wings and headpiece.
