Where it came from
The Sark (Metallic) Funko Pop! figure was released as part of the Pop! Movies line, specifically honoring the 1982 cult science fiction film Tron. This variant, featuring a unique metallic finish, was designed to evoke the high-contrast, neon-infused aesthetic of the Grid, the digital world where the film's events take place. It pays tribute to the character’s role as the primary antagonist of the original story, captured in his iconic red-accented armor.
Funko’s design team leaned into the retro-futuristic visuals established by the film's original art direction. By applying a metallic sheen to the standard vinyl figure, the design seeks to replicate the glowing, synthetic quality of the characters as they appeared on screen. Upon its release, the figure was welcomed by collectors of 1980s memorabilia as a faithful, stylized representation of one of cinema's earliest explorations of computer-generated environments.
