Where it came from
The Scarecrow Pop! figure, numbered 1023 in the Television series, was released by Funko as part of their tribute to the 1982 horror anthology film Creepshow. The figure draws its likeness directly from the segment titled 'The Lonesome Death of Jordy Verrill,' where a backwoods farmer discovers a meteorite that causes aggressive alien plant life to consume him. This specific iteration captures the macabre, moss-covered aesthetic of the character after he has been fully transformed by the extraterrestrial vegetation.
Funko’s design approach for this piece focuses on translating the film’s practical, creature-feature effects into their signature stylized form. By highlighting the overgrown, vine-like textures and the character's distorted features, the designers aimed to satisfy horror enthusiasts looking for collectibles rooted in cult cinema. Upon its release, the figure was welcomed as a deep-cut addition to the Pop! Television line, appealing primarily to fans of Stephen King and George A. Romero's collaborative work on the original film.
